The Eleventh hour of the Eleventh Day of the Eleventh Month…
Commemorates the armistice signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany at Compiègne, France, for the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front, which took effect at eleven o’clock in the morning — the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month”.
Today marks a time to reflect on the sacrifice that the men and women of our armed services make in our names.
Thank you to all current serving and past members of our armed services, whether you saw action or not, you stood up to serve the people of your nation, and we should all be grateful for that.
For those that are serving and are currently in harms way in the many hotspots, and missions around the world, may you be delivered safely home to your loved ones!
